The Cricketer Gandhi Who Batted for India

On the 142nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of India, it may be an interesting fact to remember that he was a good batsman. If ever any mention of games was made in his autobiography, it was about his connection with cricket. There is no wonder that cricket, which was the favorite game of England, had an important place in the British India. Games were made mandatory in those schools and were insisted as a part of the education curriculum. As a cricketer, Gandhi figures fleetingly in his autobiography and he does not mention about other events of games.
